Bidding Prayers -22nd February

God of mercy and steadfast love, lead us into the quiet places where your Spirit speaks. Strengthen us to turn from all that draws us away from you, and to walk with your Son in trust, humility, and courage.

We pray for the Church, that, entering this holy season, we may, together, open our hearts to God’s renewing grace and walk the Lenten path with courage, humility, and hope.

We pray for our world, which is aching for peace and reconciliation, that all nations and leaders may search for justice, practise compassion, and work together in peace to protect those who are vulnerable.

We pray for those in need, for all who struggle in the wilderness of illness, poverty, loneliness, or fear. May they find the strength and support that they need at this time.

We pray for everyone whose homes, health and livelihoods have been affected by this year’s rain. May they find hope in the seemingly unending downpours and sunshine in the hearts of the people around them.

We pray for our parish community. May this Lent deepen our commitment to God and to each other, so that we may recognise Christ in everyone we meet.

We pray for all those who have died, especially those we remember in our hearts. May they be welcomed into the fullness of God’s eternal life.

God of mercy and compassion, hear the prayers we bring before you as we begin our Lenten journey. Strengthen us to follow your Son in faithfulness and love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
