Bidding Prayers – 22nd March

Lord, today we are reminded that whoever believes in you receives eternal life. Help us to walk in your light, hear our prayers we bring before you.

We pray for as we are reminded “God became flesh in Jesus so that the clay of our humanity, shaped by the breath of His grace, might receive a new light, one capable of helping us to see ourselves, others, and God in truth.” Help us to walk in light this Lent.

We pray for all those affected by the recent meningitis outbreak. We pray especially for the two young people that have died in Canterbury and all students who are being treated in hospital with the illness.

We bring to God all those who suffer persecution for their faith and ask that all people of all races and all religions learn to live in tolerance and respect for others.

We pray all those around the globe who are hungry and suffer from malnutrition. May we, who have enough, help those most in need and may those in authority work to bring such suffering to an end.

As spring highlights the newness in nature, help us, too, to feel the newness that Lent provides. A time for reflection, awakening and spirit renewal as we approach the joy of Easter.

We pray for a moment for our own personal petitions…

Loving Lord, you are so merciful and forgiving. Help us to be missionaries of mercy and kindness this Lent. Amen.
