Bidding Prayers – 18th May

Lord God, as we come before you today in prayer we hold out our hopes and our fears, in the certainty that you hear us and respond. Give us grace to recognise your answer, Lord, and the strength and courage to do our part in bringing about your will.

With the news that the people of Gaza face further violence and starvation, we urgently pray that God will bring peace to the region and will soften the hearts of those who make the decisions that affect so many people’s lives.

As concerns rise over the dry weather, we pray for God’s creation and particularly for wildlife. We remember farmers and those who work in nature, asking God to make them good custodians of our natural environment.

We pray for those who are suffering in mind or body; that they might find comfort and healing through the care of others and the grace of God. We ask to be shown where and how we can play our part in bringing reassurance and hope to those we know personally.

We pray for our community, our parish and all those gathered here today; that we might grow together in faith, love, and service to one another.

We pray for all who have died, especially our loved ones; that they might rejoice in the eternal light of Christ.

We take a moment for our own personal prayers.

Heavenly Father, as we lift our prayers to you today we do so with humble hearts and gratitude for your love, mercy and guidance. We ask for strength in times of weakness and peace in moments of doubt. Amen.
