Bidding Prayers – 18th October

Heavenly Father, today we are reminded to give to God what belongs to God and answer the call to share the Gospel throughout the world. Hear our prayers we bring before you.

We pray that Pope Leo’s recovery and treatment will go well. May he find the health, courage, expertise and support that he needs to quickly return to caring for those entrusted to him.

We pray for peace in our troubled world. We pray for all those affected by war and violence, especially the people of Gaza, Ukraine, and the Middle East. May world leaders turn away from hatred and revenge, choose dialogue over conflict, and work together to build a lasting peace.

On this World Mission Sunday, we pray for missionaries that spread the Gospel. We pray for missionaries, priests, religious and lay people who share their love of Christ across the world. May they be strengthened in their faith, protected in their work, and encouraged to bring hope to those who feel forgotten or alone.

We pray for migrants, refugees and all who seek safety. We remember those forced to flee their homes because of war, poverty, and persecution, especially those who have lost their lives or loved ones while crossing the sea. May those who are suffering find safety, compassion and welcome, and may nations work together to protect the vulnerable.

We pray for all those affected by disasters and hardship. We pray for communities whose homes and livelihoods have been damaged by earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters, and for all struggling with poverty, hunger, and the rising cost of living. May those in need, receive practical help, and may we be generous in sharing what we have with others.

We pray for our parish community and those who have died. As Jesus calls us to give to God what belongs to God, may we offer our time and love in the service of others. We pray for the sick, the lonely and the bereaved, and for our departed loved ones, that they may rest in the peace of Christ.

Heavenly Father, hear the prayers we offer to you. Strengthen our faith, deepen our love for one another, and help us to be witnesses to your Gospel through our words and actions. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
