God of wisdom and life, as we gather to mark the Sunday of the Word of God, we bring before you the needs of the Church and the world, trusting that you hear us.
We pray for those caught up in the troubled regions of the world – for civilians, families and aid workers – remembering especially those displaced by violence and war. We ask God to send peace into these situations and to guide political leaders in making decisions for the good of all.
We remember those who are homeless, cold or destitute, asking God to comfort them. We give prayerful thanks for those who draw alongside them as workers and volunteers in shelters and food banks, mindful that they represent Christ in what they do. We ask God to keep them committed to their calling.
Let us pray for our communities, for our parish and for all who live and work around us; that God’s Word might shape how we treat one another.
God of mercy and hope, hear the prayers we share and those we keep in silence. Help us to remember always that we are your beloved children, and to share that knowledge with others, as we live your Word in practical and generous ways. Amen.
