Bidding Prayers – 4th May

Lord God, you know our needs before we utter them. Hear the prayers we bring before you today in hope and trust.

We give thanks for the life of Pope Francis – for his leadership, his courage, his deep compassion and committed humanitarianism. May he know the fullness of God’s peace in life eternal.

We hold in our prayers those who will be choosing a successor to Pope Francis

We pray for those affected by recent attacks in Vancouver and Sweden – for those who are grieving, for those injured and for those in shock. We ask the Holy Spirit to be alongside them and ease their suffering.

We pray for concord where there is conflict, dialogue where there is discord, and empathy where there is indifference.

We pray for those who struggle with poverty, illness, loneliness and despair; that they might find support and strength, and know the kindness of others. We pray for wisdom, to discern how we can be part of the healing for those around us who are hurting.

Loving God, you are the beginning and the end of all we do. Be with us now, guide our thoughts and deeds, and help us to walk in your way. Amen.
