Bidding Prayers for Sunday 23rd January

Jesus Christ, you proclaimed the Spirit of the Lord was within you, help us to recognise the Holy Spirit within each of us. Hear our prayers we bring before you.

“Tenderness is not primarily an emotional or sentimental matter: it is the experience of feeling loved and welcomed precisely in our poverty and misery, and thus transformed by God’s love.” Help us to be transformed by God’s love.

As the cost of living rises at its fastest pace for 30 years, we pray for those that are struggling to make ends meet. May those in need access support and welfare benefits that helps to put food on their table and provides hope for a brighter future.

With the pandemic continuing to affect people’s physical and mental health, we pray that 2022 will see the Coronavirus dissipate restoring health and happiness to people of all ages.

We pray for the people of Tonga that are currently blanketed in thick ash which has hampered the delivery of much-needed food and drinking water. With many devastated by the loss and destruction of homes, we pray residents find safe shelter.

We pray for a moment for our own personal petitions and a more meaningful faith life.

Lord God, help us to create an ever-growing union with you through faith, hope and love. Amen.
