Bidding Prayers for Sunday 2nd October

Lord, we are always listening to you. Faith is a gift which we are invited to take, in receiving the gift we take on responsibilities. Help us to fulfil our duty to serve God and others. Hear our prayers we bring before you.

We pray for Pope Francis as he urges us to do more in research, teaching and social promotion of migrants and refugees, and to make all educational institutions places of welcome, protection, promotion, and integration for all, to the exclusion of none.

As the UK faces economic turmoil, we pray that the leaders of this county will act appropriately and wisely for the benefit of those living in hardship and fear.

Seven months after Russian forces invaded Ukraine the war is still raging on, we pray for all those that have been killed, displaced, injured and those fighting on the front line.

As covid cases increase this autumn and winter, we pray for those most susceptible to serious illness from seasonal viruses. May they protect themselves and those around them.

As Florida is struck by one of the most powerful storms in US history, we pray for all those involved in hurricane Ian. May the Holy Spirit keep them safe from harm.

As the National Trust says that autumn colours will be unique this year because of the hot, dry summer weather, let us take the time to appreciate the natural world around us whilst being mindful of all we can do to protect it.

We pray for all those that are grieving and mourning the loss of a loved one. May their precious memories bring them comfort as they give thanks for a life well lived.

We pray for a moment for our own personal petitions…

Lord Jesus, help us to be good and faithful servants, willing to do our duty for you and others. Amen.
